Bowel Screening

Dr Tracy Owen - Quality Assurance Director, Bowel Cancer Screening Programme

The Bowel Cancer Screening Programme commenced roll-out across Northern Ireland in April 2010. It offers bowel cancer screening using the Faecal Occult Blood (FOBt) test to both men and women aged 60-74. The aim of the screening programme is to detect bowel cancers at an early stage, when there are better chances of effective treatment.

On this website you can find out more about the screening kits and advice for taking part. You can also find out what happens after you have taken part in screening. We have advice about Bowel Cancer, signs, symptoms and prevention.
